Slowly moving forward

So my social worker e-mailed me that finally after paperwork glitches and all that, Tigger's case got transferred to adoptions.  Woo hoo.....that means that this new social worker that receives the case comes and sees her in my home, gets the paperwork together and then my social worker comes to fill the final ones up so we can get a finalization date.

Oh so excited.  Granted for a fost-to-adopt case being with me for 8 mo isn't a long time, but since usually the kids are adopted after 6 months in the home, I'm a little antsy to get it over and done with....then I can make my formal annoucement to my alma mater University, do the child dedication at my church, and post pictures of her since she is so dang cute!  (I know I'm biased but she is gorgeous)

Hopefully will get a better idea of how long this will take once I speak to the new social worker.

Of Wild Hair and Tantrums

Hmmmm yes it's been a few days since my last post.  Tigger is cruising up and down the rooms, yet refuses to venture out and walk.  You see Tigger has a very stubborn mind....she wants to do things her way.  So sometimes she lets me help her and she walks with assistance and sometimes I will do that and she throws a hissy fit because she did not want to do that or initiated it.  Oh my, walking will be a joy :)  Of course my Tigger may have a stubborn streak, but it's also tinged with a sensitive side.....oh my.  That makes for hurt feelings when I tell her "NO" or redirect her from somewhere unsafe.  Tears of sentiment plus little feet kicking the floor and hands going all over as if to say life isn't fair.  Can you see why I have not been on here that much?

One fun thing about Tigger right now is her hair.  It's wild in the morning....I love it!  She has curly hair and in the morning it all stands up straight giving her an Einstein look.....sometimes with her mischievous smile, I just have to laugh....the wild hair suits her sometimes.  Tigger is almost 13 mo old....wow!  She's growing up so fast.  I'm sure I will think back to these tantrums and wild hair mornings with fondness even if I'm going to bed exhausted.

Surviving the 1st Birthday (weekend)

Yes when I say I survived the 1st Birthday weekend....I mean we had 1st birthday activities from Thursday her official birthday (July 29) all the way through sunday August 1st.

We are a dry family....meaning we don't drink alcoholic beverages yet I feel as though I had a hangover and needed this week to recoup!  LOL

Well the 1st Birthday party was a success.  I was running around ragged.....let me  tell you something about having 3 dozen balloons in your car while you're driving.  NOT VERY FUN.  Also I hate loud noises and one of my balloons popped in the car while I was driving to the party destination (grandparent's house)....oh I hate balloons.  BUT Tigger loved the bright balloons so in the end it wasn't about my discomfort or hate of balloons, it was about her enjoying her birthday.

Ok I know some kids don't care about their 1st birthday, but I swear on my grandmother's grave, that Tigger enjoyed it.  There was limited crying, only when she was hungry, she played with the balloons, she worked the crowd, and yes she laughed and clapped to herself during the singing of "happy birthday".  We have some great pictures of her and the cake....and grandma and grandpa, and of one set of great-grandpa and grandma.  She loved hitting the pinata, she even enjoyed bouncing in the jumper with me.

All in all, a great memory.  And if it just so happens she's one of those kids with a vast memory (my mother and my cousin have memories of being babies and as 1 year olds (my mom could tell you what she was feeling on her 1st birthday....scary weird) then I hope she has a good memory of it.

well here are some pictures.  Rememeber I can't show a full face until finalization of the adoption, so I feel like Michael Jackson when he used to cover up his kid's faces.
